Annual
Charity Golf Tournament set for September 8
Benefiting North Texas area seniors
The 9th Annual TIAA Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Monday,
September 8, at the
Ridgeview Ranch
Golf Club in Plano, a new location for the tournament. For golfers,
this is a chance to visit with former associates and enjoy the beautiful
surroundings at Ridgeview Ranch, while supporting The
Senior Source, an organization dedicated to helping seniors.
For more than 45 years,
The Senior Source has provided
vital services to older adults and
their families—protecting nursing home residents and other frail
elderly; counseling adult children of aging parents; connecting older
job seekers with employment opportunities; and placing older volunteers
with local nonprofit groups, schools and individuals in need.
The tournament will begin with player registration and lunch at 11:00
a.m., followed by a practice at noon and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The
tournament will be a four-person scramble format.
For Golfers: To sign up for the tournament, golfers can either
download the entry form, or
call Jessica Stewart in the TIAA office at 214-567-8444 to request a
copy of the form. The completed form should be mailed no later than
August 22.
For Non-Golfers: We need your help to reach our goal for The
Senior Source – please download the
contribution form, or call Jessica in the TIAA office at
214-567-8444 to request a copy of the form.
The TIAA has raised more than $150,000 for The Senior Source over the
past several years, and our goal this year is $25,000. Information about
their many programs can be found on website
TheSeniorSource.org. If you have access to a high-speed connection
to the Internet, click the boxed item at the top of the home page, “See
how The Senior Source improves older adults’ quality of life”, to view a
dramatic 7-½ minute video. It shows real-life examples of how The Senior
Source is making a difference in our community.
Courtney Miller, Co-Chair of the Tournament, in his letter to golfers
commented, “Remember our main objective is to raise money for The Senior
Source. Texas Instruments and Texans Credit Union underwrite the cost of
the tournament so 100% of the proceeds benefit The Senior Source.
Contributions are tax-deductible. The great side benefit of this day is
the visiting that will take place and golfing as teams.” Golfers can put
together their own foursome, or they can signup individually and
Courtney will assign to teams based on handicaps.
Registration at the Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club begins on September 8
at 10:30 a.m.; lunch at 11:00 to 12:00 noon; practice 11:30 a.m. to
12:15 p.m.; Shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
The
Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club, 2701 Ridgeview Dr., Plano, TX 75025, is
located between Custer and Independence on Ridgeview Parkway. Ridgeview
Parkway is north of McDermott and south of Highway 121. If travelling on
U.S. 75 (North Central Expressway), exit on McDermott – go west, then
turn right (north) on Custer Rd., and then left (west) on Ridgeview
Parkway.
