TI Retiree Luncheon
As president of TIAA, I want to thank everyone who attended the annual Texas
Instruments Retiree Luncheon. The rain stopped and the sun came out - and so did
the TI retirees with their contributions to the Community Partners of Dallas.
We had over 800 guests at the luncheon on October
27 at the Mesquite Convention Center. TI and TIAA volunteers worked very hard to
make this an enjoyable experience for you. We had coffee and cookies (70 dozen
of them), hosted 25 exhibitors, gained 11 new TIAA members, gave 174 shots,
enjoyed a sit-down BBQ lunch and heard an informative presentation from TI. We
raffled away tickets to a Mavericks game, a Stars game, and the Mesquite Rodeo
along with $50 gift cards from Walmart plus some extra goodies from our
exhibitors. All in all, everything went well, but it wasn't perfect.
We now realize that we needed larger screens to view the presenters' slides. We
brought back The Levee Singers by popular demand and they brought their new Bose
sound system. Unfortunately, we all learned that this setup was not adequate in
a large room with over 800 people. They turned up the volume, but that didn't
help much and I'm really sorry.
We had collected the survey sheets prior to the entertainment. So, if you would
like to make an additional comment, please send me an e-mail at
jbrb66@sbcglobal.net and it will be
included in the analysis of the survey sheets.
Incidentally, a pair of gray framed glasses and a bracelet with rhinestones were
left at the registration desk. If they belong to you, contact us at
admin@tialumni.org or 214-567-8444.
