TIAA Newsletter Published

The Fourth Quarter 2008 issue of TI Alumni News is scheduled to be mailed Monday and TIAA members should receive their copies shortly.  Because of high printing and mailing costs, printed versions of the newsletter are now mailed only to active TIAA members.  However, all former TIers can view and/or print out the newsletter using the TIAA website.  A downloadable version of the newsletter can be accessed at www.tialumni.org/news.  In addition, we will send copies of this eNews bulletin, which will feature the availability of each newsletter, to all former TIers who provide us with a valid email address.  If you know of any former TIers who might want to be put on this email list, have them contact us at 214-567-8444 or admin@tialumni.org.

Changed Time for Meet the Troops

If the estimated early departure time to Meet the Troops at D/FW discouraged you from this Veterans’ Day outing, you’ll be happy to hear that we will now leave midmorning instead of at 6:30 a.m.  Just come to the Texins Activity Center by 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov 11, ride the bus provided by TI, cheer on the troops, enjoy lunch with us at your own expense at a location to be determined, and return about 3 p.m.  T-shirts will also be furnished by TI.  Please call 214-567-8444 to let us know you’ll be joining us. 

Christmas Lights at Fair Park

Join us on Saturday, Dec. 13, for a trip to see thousands of LED lights throughout Fair Park.  Tour the newly renovated Cotton Bowl beginning at 3 p.m., visit any Fair Park museum for free, hear the Dallas Wind Symphony in the Band Shell at 4:30 p.m., enjoy holiday fare, music, horse-drawn carriages, hay and train rides plus a Yule log.  Kids can enjoy crafts and games and have their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Cap it all off at the official tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. with a special candlelight tribute to the men and women serving in our military.  We will leave the Texins Activity Center at 2:30 p.m. and return about 7:30 p.m.  Member price is $16 and the nonmember price is $18.  Call 214-567-8444 by Dec. 8 to reserve a seat on the bus.

Last Chance for TI Retiree Luncheon Reservations

There is still time for TI Retirees and TIAA members to make your reservations to attend the 2008 TI Retiree Luncheon at the advance price of $12.50 per person instead of paying $20 per person at the door.  Doors will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Mesquite Convention Center at 1700 Rodeo Dr. in Mesquite.  For more information, call 214-567-8444 or go to www.tialumni.org/new/luncheon_2008.asp. To print out an RSVP form, go to www.tialumni.org/new/luncheon_rsvp.pdf. Make checks payable to TIAA and mail check and RSVP form to P.O. TIAA Networking Opportunities

Did you know that the TIAA website, www.tialumni.org, provides opportunities for social and professional networking?  Under the "Activities" column at the top, click "TI Alumni groups". You will find contact information for alumni gatherings from various TI locations and from various TI technical groups.  Some of the groups have their own websites and links are available to provide you with more detail.  Visit "TI Alumni groups" and reconnect with your former colleagues or another group of interest.
